The 5th month

I can hardly believe how fast time is going by. Next Tuesday, Little Man will be 6 months old.  He is so big and is developing so fast.  We are eating food for breakfast and dinner now. Breakfast consists of oatmeal cereal and a fruit of some sort mixed in.  We have really stuck to prunes to help keep him loose, but have tried pears and peaches now. For dinner, we have tried sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, and peas.  He loves peas the best so far. He was not a fan of the Gerber sweet potatoes and carrots, but gobbles down the home made ones I have done by steaming and putting them in my food processor.  Squash is not liked so much, but they say you need to introduce something to them 10 times before you rule anything out.  I was hoping that by starting pureed solids we would sleep through the night.  Boy was I wrong.  We have regressed in the sleep department.  By 10 weeks old, Nolan was only getting up once in the night between 3 and 4am.  Now we wake up multiple times.  I am at a loss.  I am considering seeing a sleep nurse to help us.We have tried the cry it out method and that does not work.  Nolan will not cry himself to sleep yet.  He has the lungs and stamina of an energizer bunny.

He is rolling from both his back to stomach and now stomach to back. He wants to be help upright and loves to "stand" on your lap.  He is not so great at sitting up and really doesn't have a desire to.  He giggles and babbles and his smile still melts my heart.  He reaches for everything. He pulls the toys down off his car seat.  If you hold something out to him, he can grab it.  Everything goes into his mouth.  J calls it exploring!  He really wants our cell phones in his mouth.  A blue solo cup is one of his favorite toys too.  He still loves books, touch and feel ones especially.

We have 2 teeth!  The bottom 2 have popped up and boy are those suckers sharp.  I stuck my finger in his mouth to see if he was cutting any more when he bit down on me and actually broke the skin on my finger.  Poor little man is a puddle of drool and I know cutting teeth is super painful.  I am not against giving him Tylenol at bedtime, just wish it lasted longer than 4 hours.  I had 12 teeth by the time I turned one, so I am thinking he is following in his mama's footsteps.

Noles still loves the water.  Bath time is the favorite time of the day. He kicks and splashes water everywhere.  He has also found his penis, which he grabs and tugs the whole bath as well.  I had no idea that little boys find their penis's so early and as J says, he will never let it go now.  I just have to laugh.  Hopefully I can break him of this in public!  He loves the swimming pool and riding on the boat.  I think I have a water baby on my hands. We take him for a walk most evenings and he loves doing that too.

We can not seem to beat a darn upper respiratory thing.  He coughs and has a runny nose but his lungs are clear.  The doctor thinks it is reflux so we started him on Pepsid and who knows if that is working or not.  He has the biggest wet burps still, so who knows.  My child likes to keep things interesting.

Craziness that is the holidays

I know I haven't written in a long time. My New Year's resolution is to be better about updating this blog so people know what is going in in my life....

Since I last blogged, I have had orthoscopic knee surgery to realign my kneecap and clean up all the wonderful scar tissue that has accumulated in my 29 years of life. So physical therapy has been keeping me busy and kicking my ass. I have for the past 2 months been wearing the most attractive knee brace which I have decided goes well with ALL my fashionable clothes. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will. I'm quite dumb when it comes to computers.

Surgery was October 7, 2008 and my doctor told me this was going to be a piece of cake. I'd be walking in 2-3 days and not need crutches. Oh and he told me I would NOT be in a brace. Funny how doctors will tell you what they think they want you to hear because 45 minutes of surgery later, I had a lovely lovely heavy duty brace on my leg. Not only was I in a brace, but it was locked at 3o degrees range of motion. 3 weeks later I was given a whopping 60 degrees and 2 more weeks I was allowed 90.

Now I am in the brace when I work because let's face it.....being a sales rep is not making my recovery easier. I am just so fortunate to have the flexiblity of the job that I do. I was layed out on the couch for 2 weeks and was able to answer emails and catch up on a lot of TV and movies. The boyfriend was amazing. He drove me to and from surgery, helped me with my ice schedule, got me into bed, got me in and out of the bath tub, made me food, picked up the ever so wonderful pain meds, etc. I am forever grateful to him.

so hopefully soon, I will be able to break out the heels because I seriously miss my fabulous shoes.

90210, yeah I'm a dork

Was anyone else as excited as me for the premire of the new 90210? I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I was not allowed to watch the original show back in the day. Mom was just not approving of those adult type situations. Wow, she would definetely not have approved of what was going on in the new 90210. What 15 year old can make it into a club, have a spot in VIP, and order drinks?

Any ways, I am a dork who will watch all that trashing prime time soap operas, or I will at least give them a few episodes to get me hooked. Hell, I'll still tivo some wonderful episodes of Dawson's Creek that come on at 3:30am, gosh that was my favorite.

The bf would not even sit downstairs to watch the highly anticipated season premier. Probably better seeing as how he gets too into TV shows. By which I mean he yells at people on reality shows as to what to do and what not to do. It's kind of annoying, I don't ever get that worked up unless I am watching some Razorback football. Yes, I am a huge dork at home.

Diet Time

Once again, I am slow in writing about my crazy mad wonderful life. However, after gorging myself on the fabulous food and drinks of Arkansas over the weekend a new diet is called for. I love my job and I love my friend, but lately I have seemed to lost all sorts of self control when it comes to my eating habbits. It is extremely hard to eat healthy when you are on the road most of the month, but I am going to give it the old try again. At least I am not in this alone, the make out guy is on board with me too. I don't have a name for him yet and that really bugs me....but that's for another blog.

On the drive home from Fayetteville, we have decided to eat in more and exercise more. The exercise is what has been so damn hard for me with this damn knee injury. However, we are going to start with just walking again and hopefully my mcl will hold up and heal up for me to run again. I am also getting out my old Weight watcher cook books and we are going to eat more vegetables. I have also reintrodued water back into my life. I hate water, but know how good it is for me. I think that I will feel so much better eating fruits and vegetables again. I mean I totally stuck to the Weight Watchers plan when I moved to the StL in 2002 and over 2 years lost 40 pounds. I just have to be disciplined and plan meals and count points again.

The new boy was good for me in a lot of ways but not in a healthy eating/living kind of way. If he had his way, we'd have pizza and beer for every meal. He is so funny, last night he came over after watching the football game with the guys to tell me he was over it and ready to make a change. He said he was tired on not feeling good....this is the partnership I need, I hope cause damn it's hard to do on your own

a busy few month

So, yes I know it has been almost 2 months...but I have been very busy. With what you ask? Oh you know, filing a restraining order on a friend, being quite scared for the next 6 weeks that he'd send a friend to do me in, working, traveling, sister getting married, BFF getting married, meeting a FABULOUS new boy, Cardinal games, you know the usual.

Restraining order you say? Yes, I am dead serious. Its over now and I am in way too good of a mood to write about it.

My baby sister got married a week and a half ago. I wish her much love and happiness, but the best thing that came from this wedding thus far is my new man. No I didn't pick him up at the wedding. I met him at my sister's bachelorette party which I threw here in the StL. We started with dinner at Skybox, which is Nelly's new restaruant on the Landing. Mind you, I hate the landing and never go down there anymore, but it is perfect for bachelorette parties. I had gone up to the bar with one of the other girls after dinner and noticed a big group of boys drinking. We were all in black tank tops, mine said maid of honor in pink rinestones, of course. And this tall dark and handsome guy comes over and introduces hisself to me. As the other girl and I walk back to the table, I commented on how hot I thought he was. She is engaged and made some remark as to she'd even leave her fiance for the hot guy. Some of the guys brought sister a shot, but not the cute boy. About 10 minutes later another boy comes over and sits down next to me. He wants me to come do a shot because I was the maid of honor doing all the work. I was like, great the decent bald guy is hitting on me, not the hot one. So I obliged....duh, free alcohol, and hot boy and I start talking football. I must say, for a girl, I can hold my own, and even put some guys to shame. Hot boy is so impressed he asked if we could continue this conversation at a later date, like over dinner.....smooth transition. Now, I don't usually give out my number, but I thought what the hell and did. We girls left and went to the Big Bang.

I really didn't think we'd run into the Bachelor party again, but we did. And hot boy saw me and said "I never thought I'd see you again". I was like dumb ass you got my number...but oh well. Now the rest of the night is a little blur, it involved shots, beer, strip clubs, and a whole lot of making out. Yes I was THAT girl. The 2 boys dropped me and the girl off at our hotel at 5:45 am...where we proceeded to drink a beer and watch the sun come up. I did not expect to hear from hot boy ever again. But he called!

We have been dating for a month now and things between us couldn't be better....I need to come up with a name for him. My parents knew him as the make out guy for a while, but I don't think that is fitting....hmm

Day of Thanks

So I have had a huge weight lifted off my shoulders....I found out yesterday that I no longer have precancerous cells on my cervix. For the past 3 years, I have had to have biopsies done every 6 months, which are quite painful I must add. So I went in for my 6 month pap and like every other time, I waited for the phone call from my doctor. Well, since I travel alot I was calling home on a daily basis to check for the dreaded call to come through to say "schedule another colpol" that or the blessed letter telling me things are normal again. A month goes by and I got neither. I mustered up the courage and called the doctor yesterday and got the best news EVER! I actually don't have to see the female doctor for another year....a nice change from the 4 times a year that I have been doing. Apparently, the letter was returned to the office saying the address was wrong. Those that know St. Louis know that pretty much you can say St. Louis on the city as long as the zip code is correct...funny how the joyous letter was not able to be delivered, yet the bills seem to have no problem.

Jimmy Buffett, where every white person in St. Louis was

I am not a Parothead. I will not follow bands around to every city and soap my car. That's just not me. I think seeing the same band once a year is find and dandy. When Shizelly called me a few weeks ago and told me that our friend Smally had an extra ticket, I agreed to go. It's an experience I wanted to see to believe. It was a perfect night for a cheeseburger in paradise. However, I have never seen UMB so packed. It was wall to wall people. I do believe every white person in the StL was present. I tried my harded to not break the seal, but eventfully Smally, madre de Smally, and I had to use the bathroom. To our dismay, the lines were gianormous. So having to go so badly, I followed the Smally clan into the men's bathroom, made my way to the stall, hoovered, and got out as fast as possible. I think we suprised quite a few when the door opened and it was a female looking back at them. Beer lines were equally bad and my dumb ass left my id back at our blanket. UMB has a 2 beer maximum per person....stupid rule really, so we coned some guy to buy the two for me. The pot was a smoking and it was a mellow night, at the concert. I'm with Shizelly, I want to buy a boat.
